Hi, my name is Dorian Ford. I'm a piano player. I also curate the Jazz and Roots series at the St James Theatre Studio; a purpose built arts venue in the heart of Victoria, built in 2012. I aim to produce a diverse series, showcasing the best jazz and roots music London has to offer.

Alex Garnett Quartet - 18th January
I first met and played with Alex in the late Ian Carr’s formative weekly jazz workshop at WAC (Weekend Arts College).
The repertoire there consisted of originals by various members (including me, Ian Carr, Julian Joseph), quite a lot of jazz rock, some bebop and some standards.
I also remember playing in a fusion band with Alex led by guitarist/composer Hawi Gondwe. More recently I’ve had the pleasure of playing in various straight ahead quartets with Alex where he has demonstrated great fluidity and communication.
So I’m looking forward to hearing a very fine, swinging set from one of our great champions of straight ahead jazz in London.
Alex will be joined by Leon Greening (piano), Sam Lasserson (bass), and Enzo Zirilli (drums).
